BACK to Invitations Event - 40th Anniversary

Invitation • Favors • Place Cards
Table Names and Signage • Card Box

IDEA: Playing on nicknames the couple called each other, (she calling her husband the frog, since he was her “prince” and him, referring to her as his princess) we developed a clever fairy tale theme that would be special to them.

INVITATION: The invitations were wrapped in shimmering gold paper and sealed with a royal looking ribbon and a purple wax seal with a frog insignia. Inside, a scroll was set atop a richly detailed weathered background. A poem was written and of course opened up with “once upon a time.” Fonts and wording were carefully chosen to follow through with the fabled theme.

FAVORS: A CD was created for the favor. The CD label was designed with 3 photos of the couple at different stages of their life and a logo developed with their names, dates and a large transparent 40. The CD cover included that logo as well as multiple pictures depicting their relationship.

The CD inset was a tri-fold brochure. The inside flap described the story behind “Penelope & Frog”, for the party goers to understand and share in the theme, when fully opened, the spread time-lined the milestones of their life together, from the day they met through to the day of the anniversary celebration. Each marker had the year and many included photos of them and their family at that time.

PLACE CARDS: Place cards were created out of cover stock with the guests name and table name. Castles were die cut out of cover stock, folded and placed inside the spine of the CD favor. The place card was folded and placed inside the opening of the CD to easily view the name. Lastly, to add to the whimsey, miniature stuffed frogs were placed on the CD according to the number of guests and gender. Couples, for instance, would have a male and female frog atop their CD. Mini finger puppet frogs were placed for attending children. A 3-tier stand was handmade, covered in embroidered silk, and placed on the table at the entrance. This gave the table height, allowed the place cards to be viewed more readily, and broke up the concentration of visually intensive place cards. The additional place cards flowed around the stand.

TABLE NAMES & SIGNAGE: Instead of the typical numbered table, fairy tale locales were used, “Enchanted Forest, Prince Charming’s Palace, Neverland, Gingerbread Cottage, Far Far Away Castle, and Wonderland,” to name just a few.

Large double sided table signs, with the same colors and fonts of the invitation, were made to fit in the holders the reception hall provided.

CARD KEEPSAKE BOX: A ribbon tied box was constructed and designed with photos of the couple, following the same color and theme. It was used to hold gift cards guests gave. Later the box became a fond memory of the event and could be used for a number of different things.
